James Adam & Sons to host Patrick Leonard exhibition and auction in Dublin
Published February 5th, 2006
Totalling over 200 works hand- picked from Leonard’s personal collection.
Ranging in estimate from £600 to £3,000 for important oils and large pastels, it encompasses 60 years of painting, starting from Leonard’s early harvesting and threshing scenes of the late 1930s, to nostalgic beach scenes of north Co Dublin of the 1940s and 1950s, and his later unique views on life in the 1980s.
David Britton, Director, James Adam & Sons, says: “While he was highly acclaimed throughout his career, he was often obscured in the shadows of the more fashionable 20th century painters.
“Having worked closely with the artist’s estate to select some of the finest examples of Leonard’s work, we are confident this retrospective will consolidate his position as one of Ireland’s most important painters of the late 20th century.”
James Adam & Sons are hosting the event, which will wind up with a sale on April 26.
