Kinnitty Castle and estate is to be sold by public auction on July 7.
The 12th century castle with 61 acres of woodland and pasture is expected to fetch €10 million plus, according to auctioneer, John P. Younge.
Kinnitty Castle has been the setting for some of the most exclusive weddings in Ireland over the last few years. Ozzy Osbournes’ son Louis was married in the castle as was Joe Elliott of Def Leopard.
Irish celebrities married at the castle include Grainne Seoige and Irish international rugby star Malcolm O’Kelly.
Acquired in 1994 by Con and Kathleen Ryan, Kinnitty Castle was transformed into a luxury 37 bedroom hotel, popular wedding venue and function venue.
The castle is also the location for the popular ‘Lunasa Festival’ and is one of the top traditional music venues in Offaly.
