Online bidding for Ryder tickets on eBay ‘illegal’

Tickets for the Ryder Cup in Kildare are being sold illegally for over €2,000 online.
As the tournament approaches, massive amounts are being exchanged for passes to the America versus Europe golf championship on unofficial ticket agent and auction websites.
Tickets that initially went on sale from €100 for a one-day competition, are now being offered to the highest bidder.
There were at least 15 bids when two four-day tickets were offered on eBay for €2,083 recently.
But a Ryder Cup spokesperson told the Irish Independent there are only a limited number of authorised Ryder Cup agents.
“I would not recommend anyone would buy a ticket from eBay,” he said.
Those who plan to attend the event in September with an unauthorised ticket could be refused entry or face eviction from the venue.
