TOP-secret intelligence files on IRA activity in the United States have been released and are up for sale on e-Bay.
The 2,871-page FBI dossier details IRA connections with Irish- America from 1939 to 1976.
It has been condensed onto a single CD-Rom and is called IRA (FBI files).
It reveals how US authorities had real concerns the IRA would be used by theNazis during World War II to bomb American cities.
They were worried that anti-British sentiment by Irish-Americans might be used by a German fifth column to foster sabotage and subversion in the United States. And how FBI agents attended secret meetings and infiltrated IRA fundraising activities.
A memo to the Director of the FBI from an undercover operative in 1973 about IRA activity in New York reveals that a plan to purchase guns had been thwarted.
