An online fundraising auction in memory of a Nottingham Forest player who died of liver failure has been boosted by a donation from Roy Keane, it emerged today.

The Irish football legend, who retired at the end of last season, has given a pair of his boots for the auction in aid of the British Liver Trust in honour of Jason Kaminsky who died last year from liver failure aged just 31 years old.

Leicester-born Kaminsky, who played for Nottingham Forest in the early 1990s under managerial legend Brian Clough, lost a battle with alcohol addiction which affected him after being released from the club and left behind an 11-year-old daughter.

The online auction will launch on e-Bay on August 21 in aid of the British Liver Trust.
