E-voice firm launches service in Ireland

Evoca, a US firm offering a new voice recording application on the web, has launched a service for Irish users.
Evoca, based in Savannah, Georgia, is a novel recording service allowing anyone with access to a standard telephone or mobile phone to record their voice (or whomever else they may be recording) directly onto the web.
Irish users can access the Evoca service by dialling a Dublin number (01-657 5601) and recording their message. To retrieve the recording they can then visit the Evoca website and use their telephone number to log-in, from there they can label and access their recording.
Evoca users can make digital recordings of any length with any telephone, or sign on to Evoca.com to use an in-browser recorder linked to a computer microphone. The digital audio (MP3) recordings can then be shared through podcasting, e-mail, social networking profiles such as MySpace, e-commerce listings such as eBay, blogs, and other websites.
“We’re starting up a service for Ireland early on as part of our international strategy because it’s an English speaking, well educated and tech savvy market,” Evoca chief executive Murem Sharpe told ENN. She sees the Irish blogging community as “very healthy” and considers it a natural fit for Evoca to launch in Ireland sooner rather than later.
The company is also set to launch a Spanish language service soon to target the huge Hispanic market in the US and Spanish speakers worldwide.
The site already has a US, Canadian and German service, and Evoca has signed a deal with a “European telco” to provide the Dublin number service in Ireland.
