Increased mortgage relief welcomed

The Construction Industry Federation has welcomed the housing measures announced in today’s Budget. It said the assistance announced for first time house buyers, including those who have already bought, will underpin confidence in the housing market and help maintain continued high output.

The CIF’s Director General, Liam Kelleher, said he believed, however, that an opportunity to promote more sustainable buildings has been missed.

The Irish Auctioneers & Valuers Institute has also welcomed the increased mortgage relief for first time buyers. The Institute says the move is a sensible way to give relief to recent and potential first time buyers that will not prove inflationary in terms of house prices.
