Sligo house prices - slow growth
Published January 30th, 2007
House supply in Sligo has outstretched demand resulting in one of the slowest growth in property prices in the country last year.
Prices rose by only 6 per cent in 2006.
The highest houseprice rise was in County Leitrim, with a 29 per cent growth for the same period according to the latest figures released by the ESRI/Permanent TSB housing index.
Interest-rate hikes and expectations of a change in stamp duty in the run-up to last month’s budget pulled the market back.
A rise of between 3 and 6 per cent is now expected for 2007, compared with an overal national rise of 11.8 per cent last year.
Sligo representative of the Irish Auctioneers and Valuer’s Institute Walter Murphy says investor interest in Sligo town will remain high.
