ALMOST 85,000 euro is being sought for five paintings of Donegal which will be offered for sale at auction at the end of the month.

The oil paintings will be auctioned at Whyte’s Sale of Important Irish Art in Dublin on Monday April 30.

One painting of Marble Hill Strand, by Frank McKelvey, has been valued at 45,000 euro while the other paintings depict different scenes around Donegal including Crolly, Ardara and Glenveagh.

‘The Potato Harvest, Gweebarra’ by Frank McKelvey fetched 36,000 at the same auction in February.

Meanwhile, four Donegal items of interest went under the hammer yesterday (Thursday) when Ireland’s leading auction houses hosted a significant sale of artefacts from the period surrounding Ireland’s struggle for independence.
