Listowel Auctioneering firm to close

Published May 4th, 2007

A downturn in the property market in north Kerry in recent months sees one of Listowel’s most well-established auctioneering firms close its doors for good this Friday.

After over 20 years of selling and evaluating homes and properties, Hannon’s Auctioneers have decided to call it a day. Founded by Danny Hannon, the firm has in latter years been run by his son, Maurice, and daughter-in-law Aoife  both of whom have now decided to pursue personal artistic projects in the face of a market slump.

“Whereas we might have decided to weather it out in previous years, we were both at the stage where we’d like to do our own things and we felt it was the right time to go,†Aoife said.
