County Limerick auctioneer, Pat Fitzgerald, claims he was discriminated against by Limerick County Council after he was successfully prosecuted for displaying a ‘For Sale’ sign, at a site in Banogue, Croom.

He was fined 450 euro costs and 400 euro legal expenses, following a court appearance.

He claims that the council showed a blind eye towards another firm of auctioneers, who had a similar sign on the same pole.

Said an annoyed Fitzgerald; The council has also ignored the various political posters which strewed the highways and byways of county Limerick during the month of April, which was regarded as April Cleanup Month, in conjunction with county councils and An Taisce. It seems to me they are being very selective”.
