House buyers offered incentives as prices fall

Earlier this year a Permanent TSB/ESRI poll showed property prices had fallen by 2.1 per cent since the beginning of the year, compared with growth of more than 6 per cent during the same period in 2005.

An IAVI spokeswoman said incentives from developers, such as the installation of wooden floors or tiled bathrooms, were becoming more common to attract buyers.

“It’s really just a sweetener for the customers,” she said.
