PayPal to Expand Dublin Operations

Published June 1st, 2008

PayPal has announced plans to move its Dublin operations center to the Ballycoolin Business Park in Blanchardstown. PayPal’s Dublin operations center houses PayPal’s European customer service, operations and fraud prevention functions. There are nearly 900 employees at the current Dublin facility. The new facility holds up to approximately 1250 desks, and will better support PayPal as it continues to grow its European operations.
“Since opening its Dublin operations center in late 2003, PayPal has enjoyed rapid growth and expansion,” said Craig Hathaway, director, PayPal Europe Customer Support and Operations. “With its highly skilled workforce, it’s clear that the Dublin area is a great home for PayPal, and we’re proud to continue to support the local community.”
In 2003 PayPal and eBay chose the city of Dublin as the location for its business center after an extensive evaluation process of several European cities. Company officials selected Dublin for its talented and experienced work force, particularly in the technical and financial services industry, and for its strong business and technology infrastructure.
PayPal worked with HT Meager O’Reilly, a Dublin-based Real Estate and Property Consultancy, to select the property and develop the terms of the lease. PayPal hopes to begin moving to its new home in Q4 2008.
