Published September 15th, 2008
A painting showing the last clash of Waterford and Kilkenny in the All Ireland final of 1963 is up for sale at Adam’s Dublin auction rooms.
Auction house Adam’s said the picture, titled ‘All-Ireland Hurling Final 1963 Waterford V Kilkenny’, by renowned artist Thomas Ryan, which shows the teams playing at Croke Park, could fetch as much as €20,000.
James O’Halloran, managing director of Adams, said it was a remarkable coincidence that the picture arrived in its salesroom at this time, having come “from a deceased’s estate in Dublin”.
