Auctioneers Relief Over Deferred Royalty Payments
Published January 11th, 2009
THE Irish government has postponed the introduction of royalty payments for the estates of dead artists.
The deferral comes as a relief to auctioneers and art dealers, who do not have to introduce a royalty payment scheme in place until 2012.
The European Commission has ordered all member states to introduce the royalty, and all apart from Britain and Ireland have already done so.
