Ireland to Hold Mobile Spectrum Auction

Telecoms regulator ComReg has announced plans to auction 900 MHz GSM mobile radio spectrum currently used by Vodafone, O2 and Meteor to provide GSM services.

It says it will auction the spectrum for next generation mobile services prior to the expiry of Vodafone’s and O2’s licenses in 2011, and Meteor’s in 2015.

ComReg also says the auction could raise up to EUR182 . The auction is expected to take place in the middle of 2010.
