St Andrews golfing booklet sells for £3,000

A 109-year-old booklet about the history of St Andrews world-famous golf courses has fetched £3,300 at auction.
The publication, entitled The Links of St Andrews 1897, was written by A. Bennett, who is understood to have lived in the town.

A tatty programme for Manchester United’s first match at Old Trafford sold for £4,300 at auction yesterday.
A global boom in interest in memorabilia relating to the Premiership club ensured the rare item - dating back to February 19, 1910 - exceeded its guide price of £3,500.

All-Ireland medal fetches €26,500

The oldest All-Ireland football medal known to exist (1887) has sold at auction in London for three times its guide price.
The gold medal won by man-of-the-match Malachi O’Brien at the first ever All-Ireland football final fetched €26,500 at Sotheby’s this morning.

Arsenal to auction Highbury contents

Arsenal will auction off the contents of Highbury for charity when the club moves to Emirates Stadium next summer.
More than 5,000 lots could eventually be included in the sale, which will be conducted by auctioneers Bache Treharne and is scheduled to take place over a three-day period next summer.
